Sunday Morning Ministries
Since we believe that many children and adults with developmental disabilities can learn about God and come to faith in Christ, we provide two different options on Sunday morning for that learning to take place.  We believe in full inclusion in regular programs whenever possible, but we also realize that some children and adults learn best in a classroom and that is designed for their learning styles.

Self Contained Sunday Morning Classes:

Young STARS, 9:30-10:45 a.m. Room 105

This class is designed for children between 5-11 years of age who have difficulty participating in regular children’s programs.  Our trained teachers encourage students' understanding by using visuals and hands-on learning.  Students are allowed to participate as they are able in a calm and structured environment.  Some sensory integration techniques are employed in the classroom.

Teen STARS, 9:30-10:45 a.m. Room C003

Students with developmental disabilities between 12-17 years of age learn Bible lessons through hands-on learning, role plays, music and crafts.

Adult STARS,9:30-12:00 p.m. Rooms C101 & C103

Our class for developmentally disabled adults, 18 years and older, uses a curriculum that is specifically designed to meet their needs.  Activities include a Bible lesson, Scripture memory, prayer, singing and crafts.

Inclusion Program:

Some students with disabilities learn best by participating in our regular programs.  Our Inclusion Coordinator works with the families and the program directors to optimize the participation of these students.  A "buddy" may be assigned to provide assistance as needed.  Contact Shelley Swanson, Inclusion Coordinator, (630) 668-0878, ext. 174, if you are interested in this approach.  This option is offered during the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. Sunday school year-round.

If you are interested in attending one of these classes for the first time, please see instructions under Get Connected.
