Opportunities to Serve STARS and their Families

Come and join us as we share the love of Jesus in word and deed to children and adults with developmental disabilities and the families that love them!

Let us know if you plan to serve the Kingdom by being a ministry worker in STARS next year.

Sunday Opportunities

On Sunday, we teach and disciple children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities to know Jesus as their Savior. We do this through special classes and inclusion in regular children's and youth ministry at 9:30 and 11:00 AM, as well as through music at 6:00 PM. These are weekly commitments.

  • 6:00 PM:  Autoharp Group (September–April) Assist our Adult and Teen STARS praise God through playing the autoharp as they prepare for Christmas programs throughout the Fall and Disability Ministry Sunday in the Spring.  No musical background required. Contact Kristin Knosp.

High School Students

Wednesday Opportunities (September–April)

Praise in Action, 6:30–8:30 PM:  Assist Adult and Teen STARS praise God through chimes, singing and drama as they prepare for Christmas programs and Disability Ministry Sunday. Contact Kristin Knosp.

Friday Opportunities (September–April)

Friday Night Fun, 5:45–8:15 PM, 1st and 3rd Friday nights:  Assist Adult and Teen STARS have fun and form friendships through this social and recreational program. Dinner is followed by music, craft or gym activities and a robust prayer time. Contact Kathy Brinker.

Saturday Opportunities (September–June)

SOS Worker, 10:452:15 PM, 2nd Saturday of month:  Parents drop off their children under the age of 14 with disabilities as well as their siblings for some fun and a Bible lesson. Contact Shelley Swanson.

Flexible Opportunities

Shepherd’s Arms Worker: Spend time with a child or adult with developmental disabilities in their home, so their parents are able to get some rest.  Workers provide assistance in 3 hour blocks, one – two times a month.  A year commitment is requested. Contact Dawn Clark.

Hangin’ with a STAR:  A cooperative program between College Church and the Office of Christian Outreach at Wheaton College. College students buddy up with teen and adult STARS to attend campus events. Contact Dawn Clark.
