Start Your Day with a S.I.P.

Commons Hall & Everywhere

The first step in outreach is to ask God for opportunities to love our neighbors and point them to Christ. So the Spring Missions Festival will Start In Prayer. If you are at home, Start In Prayer. If you are at work, Start In Prayer. If you are at school, Start In Prayer. If you can, join us in the Commons at 7 a.m. as we start the day in prayer and ask the Lord for opportunities to love our neighbors in Jesus’s name.

Sunday Services

8:00, 9:30 & 11:00 a.m.

Sanctuary

The Bible says, “Love your Neighbor.” What does that mean? What does that look like? Pastor Moody will address these questions as he teaches on “The Fear of the Lord, the Love of Christ and the Call of Mission” from  2 Corinthians 5:11-6:2. A memorable model for loving our neighbors will also be introduced. Missionaries will speak in Adult Communities and children’s classes.

A Christian Perspective on Islam and Muslims: Attitudes and Approaches

9:30 a.m.

International Perspectives Class (C104F)

With widespread mutual misunderstandings and misrepresentations that inform contemporary thinking on Christianity and Islam, an atmosphere of fear reigns in many circles with regard to Christian-Muslim dialogues. The view one holds about Islam will affect one’s attitude toward Muslims; attitude, in turn, will affect one’s approach to Christian-Muslim interaction; and one’s approach will affect the ultimate outcome of that interaction. Elie Haddad from the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary will discuss a balanced approach to Christian-Muslim interaction and how to use biblical truth with respect and love without diluting the exclusive claims of the gospel.

Good Neighbor Lunch

12–2 p.m.

Host Families’ Homes

Around the world, hospitality is the common way to express love and interest in a guest. College Church families will host refugee and immigrant families for lunch. This is the high point of the missions festival. Refugee families have been preparing for this day in their ESL classes. To take part in this opportunity to show love to a refugee or immigrant family, sign up in the Narthex or contact the Missions Office at (630) 668-0878, ext. 156.
